How LayerCover collects, uses, and protects your information

Effective Date: February 8, 2026. This policy describes how LayerCover handles your data.

1. Introduction

LayerCover Labs Ltd ("LayerCover," "we," "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information when you use the LayerCover protocol, website, documentation, SDK, and associated services (collectively, the "Services").


2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Wallet Addresses - When you connect a wallet to interact with the protocol
  • Contact Information - If you voluntarily contact us via email (e.g., legal@layercover.com or security@layercover.com)
  • Referral Data - If you participate in the Referral System, referral relationships are recorded on-chain

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage Data - Pages visited, features used, time spent, and interaction patterns on our website and documentation
  • Device Information - Browser type, operating system, screen resolution, and language preferences
  • Network Information - IP address, approximate geographic location, and Internet Service Provider
  • Blockchain Data - Transaction hashes, smart contract interactions, and on-chain event data (this data is inherently public on the blockchain)

2.3 Information from Third Parties

  • Wallet Providers - Connection metadata from wallet services (e.g., WalletConnect, MetaMask)
  • Analytics Providers - Aggregated usage metrics from tools such as Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or similar services
  • On-Ramp Partners - If you use integrated fiat on-ramp services (e.g., MoonPay), those providers share limited transaction status data with us

4. On-Chain Data

Blockchain transactions are permanently public. Any data you submit to the blockchain - including wallet addresses, transaction amounts, policy purchases, claims, and syndicate interactions - is visible to anyone and cannot be deleted or modified by LayerCover or any other party.

We do not control the blockchain. On-chain data is not subject to deletion requests and exists independently of our Services.


5. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Essential Cookies - Maintain session state and wallet connections
  • Analytics Cookies - Measure site traffic and feature adoption
  • Preference Cookies - Remember your display settings (e.g., dark mode, preferred network)

You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may impair the functionality of the Services.

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:

8. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit (TLS/HTTPS)
  • Access controls and principle of least privilege for internal systems
  • Regular security assessments and monitoring
  • No storage of private keys, seed phrases, or wallet credentials

Despite these measures, no system is completely secure. You are responsible for safeguarding your wallet credentials and private keys.


9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  1. Access - Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  2. Rectification - Request correction of inaccurate personal data
  3. Erasure - Request deletion of your personal data (subject to legal retention requirements and the limitations of on-chain data)
  4. Restriction - Request that we limit processing of your personal data
  5. Portability - Receive your personal data in a structured, machine-readable format
  6. Objection - Object to processing based on legitimate interests
  7. Withdraw Consent - Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time

10. International Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries outside your jurisdiction, including the United Kingdom and European Economic Area. Where data is transferred internationally, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions.


11. Children's Privacy

The Services are not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact privacy@layercover.com and we will take steps to delete it.


The Services may contain links to or integrate with third-party websites and protocols (e.g., Aave, Compound, block explorers). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies independently.


13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the documentation site. The "Effective Date" at the top of this page indicates when this policy was last revised.
